So is this a dizzying success? Let’s see. So true, the game came out some time ago, but as a devout fan of JRPG games, I can not help but write about it. In its first year, the Switch got a ton of brand new games, something the second year barely got until the release of Octopath Traveler, a game that was needed by the console at this point like water to fish. Don’t get me wrong – great games came out this year: we got the port for Bayonetta 2, Kirby got back on stage with a new game, we got the great Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze … and here you are already starting to see the problem. It’s no secret that compared to last year, 2018 feels like a relatively shallow year for Nintendo’s Switch console. The game is not without problems, but it more than makes up for it in so many other ways that it is easy to forget them. Additionally, the level requirements for each successive chapter grow steeper and steeper, so it’s doubly important to venture out and meet the other travellers. Each party member brings different skills to the table, and each of them will be needed as bosses and enemies offer different varieties of challenges. It would be ill-advised to jump straight to the next chapter, though. After completing the first act of that character’s story, they are free to travel the open world, to either recruit the other seven characters, or to venture off in search of the next step in their journey. Upon starting the game for the first time, you will be asked to choose one of eight characters to start, each with their own storyline that’s entirely separate from that of the other characters’.
